Pure Air completing OCU project at Store Road Pumping Station in London (UK)

Odour control system at Store Road Pumping Station

The Agility Alliance J.V. and Thames Water awarded with Pure Air Solutions with the contract to supply the odour control system for Store Road Pumping Station, located in London close to the Royal Victoria Garden and Woolwich Pier.

The Store Road site is a Thames Water terminal sewage pumping station (SPS) which pumps incoming flows from the local catchment through two rising mains, which both discharge at Beckton STP. Land adjacent to the pumping station has been sold for residential development which, as a condition of the sale, requires odour control to be provided for the pumping station.

In order to contain the odour emission the existing open-mesh flooring over the wet wells and channels are replaced with solid GRP covers. Then foul air is extracted from the covered chambers through a ACTUS Carbon Filter, treating 5,000 m3 per hour in total. To accomplish the high demand in removal efficiency in this highly sensitive area the use of a carbon absorber was the preferred solution. The project is delivered turn-key project including the delivery of GRP covers, blowers, control panel, field ductwork and slab installation works.

André Schoonhoven, Managing Director of Pure air solutions commented: “Few companies in the world have our unique experience and specialist knowledge in designing odour control systems for such high-profile, sensitive areas. This projects creates instant commercial opportunity, paving the path into the UK waste water treatment market. We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious contract and look forward to working with both Agility Alliance JV and Thames Water”.

Under the terms of the agreement the works are now close to completion, the odour control system will be in operation in spring 2019.
